SFM Newsletter March 20th

We are coming to the end of International Women’s Month.. honoring all of the amazing women here and around the world.  I wanted to take the time to highlight the incredible women who are a vital part of this Sebastopol Farmers Market Community by acknowledging women farmers, entrepreneurs and yes!  you.. our amazing customers, too!!  Without you, it just wouldn’t be the same.

 

On that note.. please welcome back Caiti and Reyna from Red H Farm!! And get to know all of the other women farmers and entrepreneurs throughout the market!!  Let them inspire you as they have inspired us with all that they do!!

 

On stage this week, local favorites, Avalanche will be playing country/folk americana

 

Make sure to bring your favorite kitchen and gardening tools this Sunday.  Edgeworks will be back streetside.. Now at the market each and every Sunday for all of your sharpening needs.

 

To all of our CalFresh Customers!  This is the last month we will be able to offer a match of up to $15 to spend on local fruits and vegetables!! $15 will get you $30. Starting in April we will be back to a $10 match.  Thank you for your dedication and support of local farmers and your local farmers market!!

 

Hello all of you amazing gardeners!!  Worried about the persisting drought?  There are plenty of ways to reduce your water use and still have a productive garden!  Find plenty of advice and lots of low water veggie, edible flower and herb starts to set you on the way to a more resilient lifestyle!!

 

Have you ever seen such a beautiful sight.. veggies galore!!.. spinach and fava greens,  lettuces, microgreens, spinach, tot soi, bok choy, mustard greens, kales, collards, swiss chard, napa and other cabbages, salad radishes, turnips, carrots, beets,  leeks, potatoes, mushrooms, brussel sprouts, broccolis, cauliflowers, red onions, winter squashes,  herbs and so much more…

 

Make sure to load up on citrus .. you will find tangerines, mandarins, grapefruits, oro blanco, navel and cara cara oranges, blood oranges, lemons and limes.  It’s the beginning of the berry season.. with strawberries from Laguna Farm.  Stony Point will be back in a couple of weeks.

 

Look at all of the lovely Flowers?  Bring a bouquet of sunshine home or to a friend!! 

 

Enjoy farmer inspired products like organic nut butters, almonds and walnuts.  You will also find meats, cheeses, olive oil, wines, vinegar, dried fruits, olives, honey, herbal teas, jams, hot sauces and pesto, breads, pastries and other homemade treats are just some of what you will find at the market.  A New Crop of organic almonds and walnuts are here!!
