SFM Newsletter December 5th

Hello All of you lovely farmers market patrons.  Welcome to our annual holiday farmers markets beginning this Sunday!!  Come join us for food music and fun.. with weekly surprise guests!   Shake those holiday shopping blues!  There’s something for everyone. With Kate Magdalena playing music as you stroll through the market or take time to sit down for brunch or a special treat.  Holiday shopping doesn’t need to be stressful. Relax, take a deep breath and repeat :)

Feeling a little whimpy? Check out the veggie section of the market!!  Boost your immune system with the most amazing locally grown veggies!

 

Supply chain blues got you down?  Buy local!!  Shop the market for that one of a kind special something for that amazing someone.  Plenty of ideas for holiday baskets and care packages!!

 

Greetings to all of our CalFresh Customers!  We continue to offer a match of up to $15 to spend on local fruits and vegetables!! $15 will get you $30. Yes!  Plus, if you haven’t received a special meat, egg and dairy voucher booklet yet, we will have those available at the info booth.  One per CalFresh customer please.   We really appreciate your dedication and support of local farmers!!

 

Yes!  There are still veggie and herb starts and lots of advice available for your winter gardening.

 

Think Green!!  Make sure to eat plenty of roots and greens to keep you healthy through the holiday season!! There’s nothing like braised greens with roasted root veggies!!  YUM!

There are lots of incredible veggies to choose from including .. lettuces, microgreens, spinach, tot soi, bok choy, mustard greens, kales, collards, swiss chard, napa and other cabbages, salad radishes, turnips, carrots, beets,  leeks, potatoes, mushrooms, broccolis, cauliflowers, green beans, fava beans, red onions, garlic, winter squashes, eggplants, herbs and so much more…

 

Holiday Citrus is here with tangerines, oro blanco, oranges, lemons and the most amazing persimmons.  There’s still some time to enjoy grapes, pears and apples!  Twin Peaks will be with us for the holidays with organic citrus!

 

Look for farmer inspired products like organic nut butters, almonds and walnuts.  You will also find meats, cheeses, olive oil, wines, vinegar, dried fruits, olives, honey, herbal teas, jams, hot sauces and pesto, breads, pastries and other homemade treats are just some of what you will find at the market.  A New Crop of organic almonds and walnuts are here!!

 

A huge thank you to the Mendocino Grain Project for joining the market last Sunday.  They plan to come back once a month. Stay tuned…
