SFM Newsletter September 26th

Happy Fall Equinox Everyone!  Yes..hard to believe but, it’s true!  The days are getting shorter. Goodbye summer tank tops and flipflops…Hello cozy sweaters!! Time to clean out the closet and organize your kitchen cupboards, prepare your winter garden and take a break at your favorite farmer market.

 

With mask recommendations still in place, please be sensitive to those in our community who are taking extra precautions.  If you don’t have a mask, please give them space.

 

On stage this week, please welcome, local favorites, As the Crow Flies playing classic rock Americana.

 

Apples are here!! with Bella Ridge at the market showcasing incredible organic antique apple and pear varietals and Dean Farms with their delicious apple products.

 

Back this week for all of your kitchen and garden tool sharpening needs, Edgeworks will be streetside!

 

There are still lots of veggie, herb and native plant starts to consider in transitioning to a fall garden.

 

Make sure to grab plenty of veggies for snacking!!  There are still plenty of amazing super delicious, nutrient dense, locally produced veggie offerings include sweet corn, sweet and hot peppers,  field cucumbers and heirloom tomatoes, tomatillos not to mention.. lettuces, microgreens, spinach, tot soi, bok choy, mustard greens, kales, collards, swiss chard, napa and other cabbages, salad radishes, turnips, carrots, beets,  leeks, potatoes, mushrooms, broccolis, cauliflowers, green beans, red onions, garlic, summer squashes, eggplants, herbs and so much more…

 

Antique apple and pear season is here and citrus season on the way!!   You can still enjoy peaches, plums and for you berry lovers.. organic strawberries!!  Not to mention.. blackberries, grapes and melons too!

 

Don’t Forget the Flowers? Special treats from our local food and craft vendors are available in the plaza area.

 

Look for farmer inspired products like organic nut butters, almonds and walnuts.  You will also find meats, cheeses, olive oil, wines, vinegar, dried fruits, olives, honey, herbal teas, jams, hot sauces and pesto, breads, pastries and other homemade treats are just some of what you will find at the market.  The New Crop of Organic Almonds is here!!
