SFM Newsletter August 8th

Hey Everyone.. it’s National Farmers Market Week!!!  Come celebrate with us and show your local farmer how much you appreciate them.  A heartfelt Thank You!! From all of the Sebastopol Farmers Market vendors.  We wouldn’t be here without your support!!

With new mask recommendations in place, please be sensitive to those in our community who are taking extra precautions.  If you don’t have a mask, please give them space.

 

On stage this week, the Bay Area Scottish Fiddlers will be at the market playing folk music for a special Sunday treat.

 

It’s never too late to plant a garden.. there are still lots of veggie, herbs and native plant starts for your latest garden project.  Succulents too!!

 

It’s Salsa fresca time!! This week’s locally produced veggie offerings include sweet corn, sweet and hot peppers,  field cucumbers and heirloom tomatoes, tomatillos not to mention.. lettuces, microgreens, spinach, tot soi, bok choy, mustard greens, kales, collards, swiss chard, napa and other cabbages, salad radishes, turnips, carrots, beets,  leeks, potatoes, mushrooms, broccolis, cauliflowers, green beans, red onions, green garlic, summer squashes, eggplants, herbs and so much more…

 

Stone fruit season is in full swing!! with peaches, nectarines, plums, pluots and for you berry lovers.. mara de bois strawberries!!  Not to mention.. blackberries, mulberries, FIGS, grapes and melons too!! The Gravensteins are here!!And, yes! it’s date week!

 

Don’t forget the Flowers!! Or a special treat from our local food and craft vendors.

 

Look for farmer inspired products like organic nut butters, almonds and walnuts.  You will also find meats, cheeses, olive oil, wines, vinegar, dried fruits, olives, honey, herbal teas, jams, hot sauces and pesto, breads, pastries and other homemade treats are just some of what you will find at the market.

Thank you for supporting your local small farmers especially now when they need you most.  The drought and extreme temperatures have had a devastating impact. It’s important that we all do our part to save our most precious resources.. water, farmers and locally produced food.
