SFM Newsletter July 11th

Greetings fellow foodies and eat local activists!! Well here we are.. in the middle of a busy summer.. we are super excited to have you join us!  There is so much to be grateful for this time of the year.. amazing farmers bringing incredibly beautiful and delicious produce.  Taste the difference of locally grown small farm fruits and vegetables.. it doesn’t get any better than this!!  It’s pesto time!!  Try a cilantro pesto.. chop a bunch of cilantro, put it in a blender with olive oil, walnuts, lemon juice and a couple of cloves of garlic.. salt to taste and blend on high until you have an amazing gorgeous green sauce ..use it as a veggie dip on pasta or on fish or eggs.  YUM! Easy, delicious and so very good for you!

On stage this week local favorite, EMK will be playing classic rock and blues music for the market.

It’s never too late to plant a garden.. there are still lots of veggie, herbs and native plant starts for your latest garden project.  Succulents too!!

This Sunday’s locally produced veggie offerings include sweet corn, sweet peppers,  field cucumbers and heirloom tomatoes not to mention.. lettuces, microgreens, spinach, tot soi, bok choy, mustard greens, kales, collards, swiss chard, napa and other cabbages, salad radishes, turnips, carrots, beets,  leeks, potatoes, mushrooms, broccolis, cauliflowers, green beans, red onions, green garlic, summer squashes, herbs and so much more…

Stone fruit season is here!! with peaches, nectarines, sweet cherries , plums, pluots and for you berry lovers.. organic strawberries!!  .. FIGS.. blackberries, mulberries, and melons too!! And starting this week.. red flame grapes and some early apples.. And, yes!  DATES too!

Don’t forget the Flowers!!

Look for farmer inspired products like organic nut butters, almonds and walnuts.  You will also find meats, cheeses, olive oil, wines, vinegar, dried fruits, olives, honey, herbal teas, jams, hot sauces and pesto, breads, pastries and other homemade treats are just some of what you will find at the market.
