SFM Newsletter May 16th

Hello Sebastopol.. join us this week and find plenty of veggie and herb starts as well as native perennials for your drought tolerant garden. Pesto anyone?  Did you know that you can substitute cilantro, parsley or carrot tops for basil in a pesto?  Yes.. it’s true!  Try a simple pesto recipe putting olive oil, chopped carrot tops, minced spring garlic, shredded Matos cheese and walnuts in a blender and voila!! Super fast.. amazingly easy.. incredibly yummy pesto!!

 

Returning to the market this week.. please welcome Terra Savia wines and olive oils,  The Peach Farm back for the stone fruit season with sweet cherries and apricots, hot house tomatoes, summer squashes and cucumbers.  Twin Peaks will be back with organic stone fruit next week!

 

The latest update for those who have been asking.. Lata is still in India but, has just found a flight.. fingers crossed.  We wish her safe travels and hope she will be able to return to the market soon.

 

Although we are now in the Orange tier .. mask and social distancing rules remain the same. We operate under the same guidelines as grocery stores. Please do your part and wear a mask.

 

Get ready for more spring vegetables at the market including lettuces, microgreens, spinach, tot soi, bok choy, mustard greens, kales, collards, swiss chard, napa and other cabbages, sunchokes, purple daikon radish, salad radishes, burdock root, turnips, carrots, beets,  leeks, potatoes, mushrooms, broccolis, cauliflowers, herbs, asparagus, sugar snap peas, red onions, green garlic, hot house tomatoes and cucumbers, herbs and so much more.

 

Strawberry season is off to a great start.. cherry season has begun with apricots starting to come in and yes.. Dates too!!

 

PS.. don’t forget the Flowers!!

 

Look for farmer inspired products like organic nut butters, almonds and walnuts.  You will also find meats, cheeses, olive oil, wines, vinegar, dried fruits, olives, honey, herbal teas, jams, hot sauces and pesto, breads, pastries and other homemade treats are just some of what you will find at the market.
