SFM Newsletter August 2nd

The Gravensteins are coming.. The Gravensteins are coming.  Greetings Fellow Local Food Foragers and welcome to August, the gateway month to apple season.  Look for Nana Mae’s Gravenstein apples in the plaza.

It is National Farmers Market week.  We are excited to have you join us as we celebrate local farmers and the abundance of summer.

We are incredibly sad to hear that not everyone in our community feels comfortable coming to the market largely because there are still people, mostly outside the market who are not willing to wear a mask or social distance.  Please help us keep the Sebastopol Farmers Market safe by wearing the mandatory face covering and practicing social distancing at all times.  No eating or drinking inside the market.  It really does make a difference and it is a county ordinance.

In case you haven’t heard..  We now have online ordering for Curbside service pick up.  Order by 3p on Saturdays for pick up from 11a-1:30p on Sunday.  www.sebastopolfarmmarket.org

Did you know that you can use your Pandemic EBT at the Market.  Yes!  It’s true!! We double up to $10 for fresh fruits and veggies.

Fresh and local at the market this week, you will find delicious, just picked nutrient dense lettuces, microgreens, radicchio, arugula, tot soi, mustard greens, kales, chard, collard greens, cabbages, broccolis, cauliflowers, potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, eggplant, peppers, green beans, mushrooms, summer squashes, potatoes, onions, leeks and so much more.

Hey all of you summer fruit lovers.  There are lots of sweet, delicious, yummy white and yellow peaches and nectarines, plenty of plums and pluots, too.  Get your local apples here!! And don’t forget the berries!! Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries.  In case you were wondering..melon season is indeed here!!

There are still plenty of herb and veggie starts for your garden and flower bouquets too!!

Make sure to look for farmer inspired products including nuts and nut butters, meats, cheeses, organic olive oil and wine, herbal teas, hot sauces, breads, pastries and pastas, olives, preserves, herbal teas and other homemade treats.

Back at the Market this week.. EDGEWORKER will be on the street side of the market for all of your sharpening needs!!

Not finding your favorite vendor? Because of social distancing, we had to move things around a bit to fit everyone in.  Make sure you explore all the corners of the market for your favorite vendors old and new.

See you at the market!!

Carla
